I'd like to thank Doris at John.harker for her response, reminding me that Mayfair toffees had premises on Durham Road as well as Chester Road/Low Row & for her suggestion of the Dunning Street factory. An older relative who lived in Dunning Street as a child has now told me of the sweet factory at the foot of the street and behind Vaux Brewery and remembers that the air-raid shelter for the area was in the brewery's premises, which ties in with my aunt's story. Unfortunately, like Doris' relative also, my relative cannot recall the factory's name. Thanks for helping pin down the location. Marie Kerr
