    2. Jim & Judy Simms
    3. Good Morning - have any of you come across a Charles Reed born 1866. He had a daughter Florrie who became Florrie Towers after marriage. She resided and died in Blaydon. Lately I've found 'dead ends' to family lines. I wonder if the Boer War and WWI took a greater toll then we realize. Grateful for any information - Judy

    3. Dear List I have finished checking my piece for the 1861 census of Sunderland. Hopefully in the not-too-distant future you may see it on the Freecens page. But in the meantime, I would like to thank you all for answering my questions. I'm unsubscribing from the list for the time being but who knows - I may be back with another piece. I shall look forward to joining you again because this is a most friendly and helpful list. Thank you Janice Toowoomba

Could you at least nominate the range of professions and/or types of business that you believe to have been involved? Otherwise, we could appear to be casting quite a slur on the reputation of the entire business community of 1950s Sunderland. Though I suppose, if there were really only 40 "thieves", that would leave a remarkably large number of honest traders. Alternatively, please email me off-list with the surnames of all your suspects, and I will respond to any that I recognise with knowing nods/surprise as I see fit :-))) Tim.

    1. margaret Pearson
    2. Joan Murray
    3. I am trying to find information about Margaret Pearson. She married Samuel Bishop Pearson about 1875 and they had a daughter Jane Edith. The family were connected to Pearsons Mineral Water factory in Sunderland.I think the marriage might have failed but Margaret is registered as still associated with the factory in the 1901 census.I would like to know her maiden name and any information about her grandson's (John Rupert Murray)connection with the factory. Also, does the title 'FortyThieves' in connection with a group of lawyers/accountants operating in Sunderland about 1900 mean anything to anyone. Many thanks Joan Murray

    1. George Henry and Louise BROWN decendants?
    2. Penny & Richard
    3. Hi I am trying to find out more about what happened to George Henry Brown who married Louise Margetts 3 March 1905 in Sunderland Register Office. They both gave their address as 54 Nora St Sunderland at the time of their marriage. Louisa/e was my Great Grandmother and her maiden name was Margetts. She had my Grandfather illegitimately in 1891 and he was adopted out. I have only recently found our about Louisa and would dearly love to know if she and George had any other children. I believe she lied about her age at her marriage as she was born in DEC 1867 but put 30, so she would have been about 37 when they married so may not have had any more children. I am pretty sure it is the right Louisa as the father's name and occupation are correct. i hope that someone out there is researching Brown's and may have some information. Thanks Penny in NZ
