    1. OLIVER / SPROAT

    3. This is my first post to this list. I am researching the family of Edward Sproat Oliver and his wife Jane Ayre. I know they were living at 51 Harrogate Street Bishopswearmouth in Durham in 1881. Is there a kind person out there, that would be able to have a look up at this same address for this family in 1871 and 1891. I know that Edward Sproat Oliver died in 1875 but Jane die not die until 1893. They had a son William Oliver aged 32 in 1881 and a Catherine A Oliver aged 30 in 1881. Jane was 66 and head of the house in 1881. I am hoping that his is the same family that was living in Liverpool Lancashire at one time, and I would love to know if they had any more children. Thanking you in anticipation. Carolyn in Western Australia

    3. Thank you for this Stan. Yep - like you say, an expensive memorial. Its just on the outskirts of ward 8. Turns out that the Fred LARKIN married Margaret DOLAN in 1896 at St Mary's. Ah well....the search continues. I've given my sister some other leads to follow regarding the memorial so hopefully she can turn up the info. she wants. thanks again Diane R Sunderland UK Stanmapstone@aol.com wrote: In a message dated 27/10/2004 07:19:51 GMT Daylight Time, oaktree1503@yahoo.co.uk writes: alternatively is anyone researching the LARKIN family. I don't know the monument, but it seems like an expensive memorial. There do not appear to have been many Larkins in Sunderland, in the 1881 Census there is only one family, that of Peter J. Larkin, a publican at the Crown Inn, Bowes Quay. In the 1901 Census Fred Larkin, his son is also an Inn Keeper. 3. Hi Folks I'm posting this on behalf of my sister. I wonder if anyone can help me with this. In Sunderland Cemetery (at Grangetown) just past the chapel on the left hand side is a monument which consists of three tiers, with a huge angel leaning over it and holding the monument in her arms. It is dedicated to the LARKIN family, wife Margaret, her husband Frederick William and their son Frederick William. Is anyone out there (particularly Stan) familiar with the Angel and if so do what does it symbolise. The family were Roman Catholics. alternatively is anyone researching the LARKIN family. They are not connected to our family, but my sister, like me, is so taken with the monument, she is trying to find a little about its history and the family it commemorates. many thanks happy hunting Diane R Sunderland, UK Researching in Sunderland Area: RAIN, ROSS, STEWART, DAVIE, JEFFERSON, ROWE, MILTON (Minnie the ever elusive), SWINHOE, MORDEY, WHORLEY/WORLEY --------------------------------- ALL-NEW Yahoo! 3. Hi Neighbour, Coincidence - my family lived 29 The Panns, Bishopwearmouth. I have photos of the 1851 and 1861 census pages. There seemed to be a number of families living at the same address, I don't know if each Panns address was a separate street or alley or some form of tenement, any idea. Robson's don't show up on either photo. 3. I am still plugging away trying to find where Patrick and Ellen Collins came from in Ireland. In an attempt to find the christian name of Ellen, I have obtained several birth Certs. for children whose details from the 1837 site seemed to be the right ones, but they are all from the wrong families. Now I have found another possible son, Patrick, with the following details;PATRICK COLLINS B SEPT Q 1870 STOCKTON 10A 40.In the 1881 census Patricks place of birth was given as SUNDERLAND, DURHAM.Is there any way I can find the the details of this birth without ending up with another useless certificate? 2. Peter Robinson
    3. I inadvertently made reference to the deaths of John and Isabella. This was incorrect as, while it is known they travelled to OZ with at least two children, their death records have not yet been found. The information re having been born in Sunderland comes from other sources. My apologies. the older of the tworobbos
