Hi, Everyone! I just received a certified copy of an entry of death from the GRO for Cuthbert Hall. The copy lists his occupation as "Wagon Rider". Can anyone describe to me what a Wagon Rider's job actually is? By the way, it turned out that the Cuthbert on the entry of death is not my Cuthbert! Perhaps he belongs to someone else out there. Cuthbert Hall, died Sept 18, 1877, age: 54 years, occupation: wagon rider, cause of death: diarhea & debility (certified by WA Hope, LSA, signature: George Bell, present at the death: Margaret Hall, Sunderland, location of death: Booth Street, district: North Bishopwearmouth, Co. Durham. Another question! Does anyone know what the designation LSA following the name of the person certifying the death means? Thank you in advance. Charles San Diego, CA, USA

Hi Philip, Thanks for your info. The reason I'm looking for Laura White is... My Grandad, Trevor Morris, Believed his mother to be Laura White. However when he received a copy of his birth certificate it stated his mother as being Maria May Johnson. He has 4 older siblings the eldest being Donald Ogilvie, b 1924, to the same mother, different father, in the UK. Trevor and the middle 3 sibs were born in New Zealand. The 2 elder of the 3 have Laura White as on their birth certs. The 3rd has the same as Trevor. The same woman gave birth to all 5 children. We are trying to determine her true identity. Any help as to where I should be looking or what I should be looking for would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Karina.

The cost is the same. Regards Stan Mapstone www.mapstone.org
Hallo I am hoping that someone else has connections to GEORGE BROWN who married MARGARET GRAY in the Parish Church of Seaton 18. 10. 1852 George's father was also GEORGE BROWN BLACKSMITH Margaret's father was BENJAMIN GRAY MINER. They came to Australia shortly after marrying. Any help on the family still in Durham would be great. Many Thanks Barbara
I wished to thank everyone for the fantastic response. I did not expect anything so soon! Yes I had done my research for Free BDM and thankyou to Tim for your effort. I would not have asked without at least making the effort myself before I asked. If I can assist anyone with some lancs or chesire items, I have several resources for my own family tree who belonged in that area. Unfortunatley my resources on Durham Co, is zilch. Anyway please contact me off list. Again thanks so much to all and now I will see where the info leads me, but I think he might have to spend some pennies to buy certificates. I know it cost me heaps for my own family history, but so lovely to have! Lynn Cheshire Cat in OZ

Trying again with the correct address!! I am trying to trace the parents of Samuel Wright (a mariner) who married Sarah Jane Greenwell (born in Monkwearmouth) at Long Benton Northumberland on 10 Mar 1868. They lived in Sunderland after their marriage and had 4 sons (Ralph, John, Samuel and Robert). I know from the marriage certificate that his father was also Samuel (a carpenter) probably born around 1805 but I don't know who his mother was. Does anyone know anything about this family? John
Hello listers! Hoping that someone out there may know the answer to this little poser! I am trying to trace back down my paternal line, the Roxbys (also the Hillams). I have found what I assume was my grt grt grandfathers birth in the Family Search records. It says that he was christened in 1823 in Houghton-le-Spring and that his mother was Jane Roxby. There is no mention of the father! Could this be that whoever input the records just didn't know? - Or was he illegitimate? If anyone out there can help that would be great! Frances Proud (nee Roxby)
