Hi Brian, I have found Christopher Street in a 1914 Directory, it ran from White House Road to Burlington Road and is the first street west from Hendon Road. If you go to; _http://www.streetmap.co.uk/streetmap.dll?G2M?X=440313&Y=556490&A=Y&Z=1_ (http://www.streetmap.co.uk/streetmap.dll?G2M?X=440313&Y=556490&A=Y&Z=1) it was roughly where Finchale Close is on the map. I recently purchased the marriage certificate of my great grandparents, Henry Hillam and Mary Ellen Doyle. Mary Ellens father is listed as "John Doyle - Coaminer. Deceased". This was in 1903. I am unable to track down John at all! I can't find any mention of him in any of the records. I have tried the Durham records as well as BMD etc. Anyone out there able to find him? I believe that he would have originally come from Ireland - possibly County Cork.
