    3. A gedcom is just a plain text file even though it has a .ged extension. You can open it in any text editor. So surely there is no difference between a Mac Gedcom and an IBM Gedcom - so long as you can transfer the file from one computer to another - eg by emailing as an attachment. The problems arise when exporting and importing. Does the originating program follow the gedcom specs closely - and does the receiving program? Sometimes you have to experiment with the options.
