    3. I think you ought to have a look for yourself, and take along the grandchildren. Let them judge for themselves whether Weymouth looks like Majorca or not! Im sure you will find many places you once knew that have not changed at all. Kim from the Blackmore Vale in Dorset, England kim@white.evesham.net I use Archive CD Books. 1. [DOR-LIFE] Apologies!

    3. No! I'm not a nostalgic grumpy old conservationist! May I take this opportunity of thanking all those who reacted off and on list to my rather depressed mail, and yes, I will take the littl'uns to Dorset. The actual seafront at Weymouth doesn't seem to suffered overmuch, but I'd better get moving before the Town Council (my mum always said "the Corporation" - why did that come back?) decide that all that georgio-victorian rubbish has to go! As for the countryside, apart from road-widenings and by-passes I suppose it hasn't changed too much. I do remember lurching round what were then "main" roads just wide enough to take the old chocolate-brown Bere Regis coaches. I don't think there were any double carriageways in Dorset before 1965. I stand to be corrected of course. Special word to Brian - I can make it to Weymouth, but the kids would probably prefer California!! Geoff
