What I can tell you is that it is only list 5 which is down and that is the one that hosts the main Dorset list and many of the other big county lists. If I remember correctly Dorset-Life is on Lists 2 and should be OK. I suspect it has had no messages because everyone assumes that if Dorset-L is down, then so is Dorset-Life! It should, however, be life as normal on this list! Helen In chilly Weymouth For the benefit of those on the list who have not looked at the Help Page, this is what Rootsweb say: One of our mailing list servers (LISTS5) is partaking in conniptions of a disruptive nature. This server is off-line for maintenance. Updated information: Wednesday - no further information to hand The initial problem has been identified and resolved, however, the initial problem caused subsequent problems to digests and the overall fix is going to take a little longer to achieve. Trust us that we don't like the beast being off-line and we are endeavouring to get it back as soon as we can. The current estimate of the time that the server will be off-line is another day or two. At this time, please do not contact the HelpDesk if you are not receiving email. We do mean this and the continuing number of messages asking this exact question is staggering. The Dorset Life list covers general Dorset issues and although much less busy than the family history lists it generates far better quality discussions. I don't want to see it swamped with endless "will SKS look up ......" requests which to a great extent is what has happened with the others. The quantity on those has risen slightly compared to a few years ago but the quality has really plummeted. Regards Ray Collins Weymouth, Dorset.
