'Evening all! There is also the fact that, in those days, if ever a Spaniard got washed up on the shore he may just have been better off if he'd drowned in the first place! I don't think the local population would have been very welcoming, let alone giving their daughters permission to marry! No Geneva Convention, Red Cross parcels or psychological assistance - the nearest tree and a short rope were more than enough - and no bother with the local authorities! Which could explain why there is no record of such happenings. Just a (barbaric) thought! Geoff
