I agree Poole is a much better Harbour.Christchurch Harbour was shallow. and had shifting sand bars. While George and John Head practised the trade of wheelwright. fixing wagon wheels.for the wagons that carried smuggled good to Ringwood. The goods were floated in and around sand bars that made Christchurch such a poor harbour.Grandmother was born in Burton or Burton Green just north of Christchurch,on the road going north too Ringwood.in 1884. Lily May head moved with her family too Millbrook, and is listed on the 1891 census report.there.She met George Tame Blatchford born in Hants.and they married. My mother was born 1923 in Uitenhage, South Africa and back to Hants. But the wonderlust started up again and in 1935.George and lily with child went to Weymouth,Doset.Where as, George did in South Africa, keep bar.He was the victualler of the Duke of Edenburg.until his death in 1942. Lily May nee Head died in Winchester. Hants in 1952.at the home of her sister.Mrs Ron Broomfield,Broomfield being another surname that was in South Dorset.George Tame Blatchford was a Saloon Steward on passenger ship also.Night Cabin Steward. His mother was from Cornwall and has some Bengal India blood in her.George was dark and had a tattoo. George's father James came from Oliver Blatchford from the Severn River area and Another Dorset Family.James Mullett and Maria Richards of mintre magna area of Dorset. So as you can see, here today and gone tomorrow and then back again.like a spiders web.Your Confused.?..There was Head family in the Christchurch, and Weymouth area for years.and with the boundry changes it is a puzzle.CHESS ANYONE.? keep on-keeping on-never quit.
