    1. 1871 census query
    2. Strange that the Southams mailing list is working fine yet the Devon one has been out of action for over a week? I have found a possible branch of my family in London in 1871, they were Effers but the transcription came through as Epper! However the place of birth for the head and his wife are in Devon but the enumerator must have just made the names up! Can anyone give me an idea what these towns should have been? Matilda Epper 36 from Gottnep William Epper 34 from Vanyow The Effer families I have been following come from Paignton, Totnes and a few parishes on the Dart between Dartmouth and Totnes. All suggestions welcome! Best wishes Sara

Hi Sara, The Devon list is one of many affected by the problems with one of RootsWeb's mailing list servers (LISTS5). The server is currently off-line for servicing. You will find the latest information on the RootsWeb help page <http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/> Cheers Joan Rotorua, NZ
