Hi everyone :) I'm hoping someone can help me with my ggGrandfather's family. William EASTLEY was baptised on June 2, 1805 in Diptford. His parents were Robert EASTLEY and Elizabeth TRUFS? (we're not sure about spelling). Robert and Elizabeth also had a daughter Charlotte, baptised on August 25, 1816 in North Huish. William was a convicted sheep stealer, transported to Australia. While he was held in the Devon Assizes, he wrote to his wife Elizabeth MUGRIDGE, asking her to "give my love to my brothers and sisters". I have no information on Elizabeth's family whatsoever, but since I know of Charlotte, it appears he had at least two brothers and another sister that haven't yet been found. The way he's worded the letter indicates that he's not talking about Elizabeth's siblings, although that's a possibility. William was born and baptised in Diptford. Charlotte was baptised in North Huish. William and Elizabeth were married in Diptford (September 5, 1830). They had 3 daughters, Elizabeth (baptised October 3, 1830 Diptford), Eliza (baptised November 7, 1832 North Huish) and Matilda Ann (baptised February 15, 1835 North Huish). After William was transported, Elizabeth apparently gave birth to 2 sons (no bastardy orders unfortunately), Richard Prowse EASTLEY baptised December 05, 1841 North Huish and John, no baptism found for him as yet. It's MY guess that these boys were actually Elizabeth Jr.'s children even though she was very young when Richard was born, but that's going to be a very hard one to prove. On all the papers I've found on William's convict life, it states his native place is North (possibly west, hard to read) Plymouth and yet all the baptisms and his marriage state Diptford or North Huish. When Eliza, Matilda Ann and Richard were born, he was a Labourer living in Lupridge. Can anyone suggest where I might look next? I need some advice on how to find William's and/or Elizabeth's siblings and Elizabeth's siblings. Has anyone come across this family before? Is there an OPC who covers areas other than Diptford and North Huish? I've had lookups done by Gail Wilson which is where I got the above baptisms and marriage from and that was all she could find.
