    3. I am searching for information on John Tuckett, born 15 Feb 1801 in Exeter, Devon, married to Emma I think they had more older children, but the first one I have record of is James, born abt 1832 in the Channel Islands. Daughter, Isabella, born abt 1836 in Exeter, Devon, Then Frederick John Tuckett, born 2 Feb 1838 in Exeter, Devon Record shows a granddaughter Emma Sandford, born in 1847 in Exeter, but I haven't had any luck finding her parents. Information from a census has them living in Newton Abbott, Devonshire in 1851 If anyone has any information on this family, I would be excited to receive it. Thank you. 3. Hi Marianne I have found the following in 1841 census. (Bear in mind ages were rounded to the nearest 5 years.) Ref: HO107/267/10 Folio 1, Page 16 90 or 9 Bartholomew Street, St Paul, Exeter John TUCKETT aged 40 Builder born in County Emma TUCKETT aged 40 (says born in County but I thought I saw a reference to her being born in Sherborne, Dorset in later census) Edward TUCKETT aged 15 born in County James TUCKETT aged 10 born out of County Isabella TUCKETT aged 5 born in County Frederick TUCKETT aged 4 born in County Sarah TUCKETT aged 50 Independent born in County (who I would assume to be John's elder sister) Have also found the following births on the www.familysearch.com website: Emma Ann TUCKETT christened 26 Dec 1823 at St Thomas the Apostle, Exeter - parents John Tuckett & Emma Edward Gundree TUCKETT christened 23 Jul 1826 at St Thomas the Apostle ditto Sara Elizabeth TUCKETT christened 17 Jan 1833 at St Paul, Exeter ditto You might also be interested to note that at Frederick's christening his father's name was given as John Blackmore TUCKETT. Didn't R D Blackmore write Lorna Doone - perhaps they were related. Although I think Lorna Doone was set in Somerset so perhaps not. I have also just found John & Emma's marriage on the familysearch website. Suprisingly they were married in London but because of her surname we can be sure it's the right couple. John TUCKETT m Emma GUNDRY 31 Dec 1822 St Luke Old Street, Finsbury, London Unless you can find any more daughters it looks as though Emma Ann was Emma SANDFORD's mother (as the child was 11 in 1851) although at the moment I can't find a marriage of an Emma Tuckett to a Sandford husband. One more thing, although it is not very clear it looks from the 1851 census as though Emma Sandford may have been dumb. Hope this helps Regards Sue ----- Original Message ----- From: "MARIANNE HANSEN" <stampingrammie2@msn.com> To: <ENG-DEV-SOUTHHAMS@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, October 19, 2006 6:07 AM Subject: [SOUTHHAMS] Tuckett families >I am searching for information on John Tuckett, born 15 Feb 1801 in Exeter, >Devon, married to Emma > > I think they had more older children, but the first one I have record of > is James, born abt 1832 in the Channel Islands. > Daughter, Isabella, born abt 1836 in Exeter, Devon, Then Frederick John > Tuckett, born 2 Feb 1838 in Exeter, Devon > > Record shows a granddaughter Emma Sandford, born in 1847 in Exeter, but I > haven't had any luck finding her > parents. > > Information from a census has them living in Newton Abbott, Devonshire in > 1851 > > > If anyone has any information on this family, I would be excited to > receive it. 3. Hi Marianne Just found the death of a Emma Ann SANDFORD in St Thomas, Exeter. Death was registered Mar Qtr. 1847 - ref: 10 220. So looks pretty conclusive, although it would be nice to find the marriage.
