Hello all, I am interested in the above street, it shows as Barrack st in the 1841 census and later (anyone know when?) became Ebrington st. I have John Jordain, a timber merchant who lived in a large house off Barrack street owning quite a chunk of the road on the 1839 tithe map. There are several sawyers living in the same street who perhaps worked for him and lived in his cottages. Does anyone have any links to Hillside, ( a small lane running of Ebrington st) numbers 25-29 ebrington st? A Mr WR Gay who started a school in 1875 in a building next to Jordains house? or anything from that locale? thanks and regards Clare.
