William LIDSTONE was the son of James LIDSTONE and Margery HANNAFORD. I know nothing about the relationship between the two HANNAFORD women. Kate, Thanks for the email. I don't know the relationship either. I have seen that reference to Margery HANNAFORD born 1767 in Thurlestone before. But I cannot find any such entry in the Thurlestone registers. I know only too well that many pages of the Thurlestone registers are a little tricky to read and others are quite impossible, so I could easily have made a mistake, but I don't think so. Do you know who originated the thought that Margery was born in Thurlestone in 1767? But I do have details of both the marriages 17.2.1785 James LIDSTONE (bachelor of South Milton) to Margery HANNAFORD (spinster of Thurlestone) by banns in Thurlestone, Devon, witnesses - William MUDGE? and William MOORE 1.10.1818 William LIDSTONE (of South Milton) to Betsy HANNAFORD (of Thurlestone) by banns in Thurlestone, Devon, witnesses - Jane LIDSTONE and Samuel CRIMP I'm sure that there are links between the HOSKING tribe and some of the LIDSTONE family. That HOSKING lot originated in the South Brent area and also married into my STEER family, as did my HOSKING gang that originated in Falmouth. Apart from that slightly tortuous link, I have no evidence that my HANNAFORD/CRISPIN lot were linked to your LIDSTONE family. regards, Jack Steer ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kate Boyce" <keb@labyrinth.net.au> To: "Jack Steer" <jacks@bukanin.fsnet.co.uk> Cc: <ENG-DEV-SOUTHHAMS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, May 04, 2006 12:02 PM Subject: Re: [SOUTHHAMS] Crispin Family > Jack, > Two HANNAFORDs married with my LIDSTONEs - Margery HANNAFORD, b. 1767 > Thurlestone - d. 1847 South Milton (husband James LIDSTONE), and Betsey > HANNAFORD , b. 1800 Thurlestone - d. 1866 South Milton (husband William > LIDSTONE).
