Looking up a M*CH*MORE in the 1901 census, the National Archives gives the census place as Purlesham and Ancestry gives it as Paglesham (both stated to be in Devon). I can find neither Purlesham nor Paglesham in the GENUKI Gazeteer or in Multimap. Does anyone have any idea where the place is? I am fairly sure it is in the South Hams. Alas! Paglesham is in Essex, north of Southend, near Foulness Island. Maybe named after cowslips!
