    3. Alan, You asked if anyone else was researching the PERRITON/PERRATON tribe in the South Hams. I have an interest as they married into a LUSCOMBE family in South Milton and my LUCKHAM family and indirectly into my STEER family. But I should hardly dignify my notes as research. I do not know if John PERRITON baptised in South Milton on 16.8.1771 was Jane's father. There was another John baptised there on 22.1.1769, the son of Matthew PERRITON and Margaret. Nor have I been able to find the marriage of John and Jane, but these are the John/Jane PERRITON/PERRATON baptisms from the South Milton registers. I have not checked through them for some years, so they may or may not be accurate. 3. Hallo Dad and Janice, read your email to Hazel you mention the name Edgecombe I have an article written in 1871 by W H Cottell which gives a paragraph or so to the Edgecombes I have an interest because William de Edgecumbe married Hillaria daughter and heiress of William de Cotele in1353 who lived at Cotele house Calstock Cornwall the Edgecombe took possesion of the house and lands when William de Cotele died as in those days wives were classified as goods and chattles and the husband took all the wife's possesions. The house is still there the Lord Mount Edgecombe gave it to the National Trust in the 1930s. The name Cotele changed in time to Cotel, Cottell, Cottle they have Arms, Or a bend Gules red band on a gold base and can be seen in the Edgecombe's armes in Cotele house on the river Tamar. The Cotel's came over with William the Conqueror from Brittany in 1066. Don't suppose it will help you but it might be of interest. Bill Cottle.

    3. Hi Hazel You have me a bit puzzled here! Does this person fit into the Edgecombe family somewhere?? I've at long last got one of my brick walls partially knocked down - found a death for my gt.gt.grandmother - have been searching for her husband's death for 2-3 years - they both seemed to have vanished into thin air but I was beginning to suspect they must have both died young, leaving behind a young family - this is what happened to the mother at least - just have to find the other missing piece now!! Hope the photo of Justin and their children came through OK - thought you'd be interested in seeing that. Sam will be one in about 9 days. Love Dad & Janice

    3. Hello, I am researching this name in South Milton. My 4x Gt-grandmother was baptised Jean Perriton though think this was a spelling error on behalf of the clerk writing out her baptism in 1811 on other doccument she is Jane Perraton the daughter of John and Jane of South Milton. Think he is also John Perriton born 1771. Anyone els researching them or the clark/e in the South Hams. Regards San

Could you please post an exact date and place and I should then be able to find the marriage. Do you know where and when Mary was born and/or baptised? 3. Betty, The exact date and cause if death will need a death certificate. I'm fairly sure that she was buried in Chivelstone and that her abode was entered as East Prawle. Kingsbridge is only mentioned on Free BDM as it was the registration district that includes Chivelstone. 3. I am researching William and Mary [Downing] Pinhay who had their children christened at Dodbrooke between 1810 and 1827. The abodes noted in the christenings were Goveton and Sherford. At the same time Richard and Sarah Pinhay were having children christened at Dodbrooke. As the naming pattern and given names were similar it raises the question is there a family connection. Is anyone on the list researching either of these families? Frances MacKellar DFHS #10088
