Hello Can someone please lookup the 1851 census for this family BREWSTER Henry Lewis, b.c1820 Herts BREWSTER Mary, wife, b.c1821 Rayleigh, Essex BREWSTER Catharine, daughter, b.1843, Exeter, Devon Thankyou Helen
On the handwritten image Mary's birthplace is clearly "Essex Raleigh". A good example of mistakes to beware of in transcription! Hi Andy, Many thanks for your reply. I have a William TUCKER b. 1800 but no parents or siblings names..His death certificate gave no details, when he died in Tasmania in 1847.His marriage register noted has was from Dartmouth (not necessarily born there) !!!! He married at St.. Helier, Channel Islands,1826 then came to Tasmania with his wife and son in 1832. Without his parents names I am finding it impossible to connect him with anyone. One of his twins born at St. Helier had LUCKRAFT as a middle name and I have seen Susannah FULL married William TUCKER (LUCKRAFT) on a note given to me, but would that mean his mother was a LUCKRAFT. Sorry to waffle on like this, regards, Marion. ----- Original Message ----- From: "andrew partridge" <andrew_partridge@msn.com> To: <eng-dev-southhams@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, September 16, 2006 6:59 AM Subject: Re: [ENG-DEV-SOUTHHAMS] LUCKRAFT and TUCKER > Hi Marion > Richard Tucker married Mary Luckeraft at Dittisham 29-11-1797. Dear Listers, You might be able to relate to this poetic gem which arrived in the mailbox this week. Cheers Deb Guildner Adelaide SA "The Family Tree" The tracing of a family tree Is not as simple as it looks. The work demands a high degree Of patience, skill and honesty And very many books. A genealogist will take The utmost care and pains To seek the truth that he may make A pedigree which none can shake. Believe me, it takes brains. Tall tales of ancestors who fought At Hastings with the Duke Of Armour worn at Agincourt Will gain, at worst, a vulgar snort At best a suave rebuke. If asked the way to trace a tree He instantly replies, Four factors must benignantly Assistance give success to see- It can't be otherwise. Possession of uncommon name, Long tenure of some ground; Residing at a place the same As that to which your forebears came; And records safe and sound. If these four factors you possess Most fortunate you are For you may hope to have success In going back to good Queen Bess And possibly her pa. And if manorial rolls are kind And copyholds abound You may remoter traces find To charm the genealogical mind And cast sweet joy around. But don't forget you needs must show Proof of each generation Consolidating as you go That scholars may on you bestow Their hearty acclamation. O 'Tis a happy thing to see When all your work is done A quite authentic family tree To pass on to posterity- And doing it is fun! by (Dr.) T.T.Reed, first Archbishop of Adelaide first published in "The South Australian Genealogist" Vol 33 No 3, August 2006. ----- Original Message ----- From: "ALAN FIELD" <afield.family@btopenworld.com> To: <ENG-DEV-SOUTHHAMS@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, September 08, 2006 7:14 PM Subject: [ENG-DEV-SOUTHHAMS] Perriton/Perraton > Hello, > I am researching this name in South Milton. > My 4x Gt-grandmother was baptised Jean Perriton though think this was a spelling error on behalf of the clerk writing out her baptism in 1811 on other doccument she is Jane Perraton the daughter of John and Jane of South Milton. > Think he is also John Perriton born 1771. > Anyone els researching them or the clark/e in the South Hams. > Regards > San > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ENG-DEV-SOUTHHAMS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
