I am researching an ancestor named Charles Leggott Whitaker who was born in Adlingfleet in Yorkshire in 1809. By 1841 he was living in Chesterfield and did so until 1889 when he died leaving his 3rd wife Mary Ann. His first wife was Mary Swain and may have been from Sheffield and his second was Rebecca Gregory (from Duckmanton). He had a number of children Robert, Charles, Harriet ( married a Froggat) and Sarah Ellen (married a Barber). Charles Leggott was an innkeeper - I believe the Red Lion in Packers Row. Though by the 1870s when he made his will he described himself as a "gentleman"! and was living in Abercrombie Street. I would very pleased to hear from anyone with any connection to this family.
