Dear friends My paternal grandfather, George WOODHAM, was born in Swineshead, Hunts. By 1881, he was living in Chesterfield and working as a railway wagon driver. He married my grandmother, Elizabeth Ann YOUNG, in 1883. It was then that I believe he moved to Dickenson Road in Hasland to live. At some time after this, he took over a shop at the bottom of South Street, and sold saddlery, chandlery, and dry goods. The shop was later known as Leggard's. The family later moved to Albion Road, near the football ground. My grandfather eventually went bankrupt, and died in 1929. Question: for their marriage, I have only "June Quarter, 1883." Can anyone give me an exact date? Question: Does anyone know when my grandfather took over the shop on South Street, and also when he had to leave it? Any further information gratefully received.
