Hi Jayne, Thanks for the offer, but I have been in your neck of the woods a few time and have been to Lakeview Cemetery in Thorold which is how I know what the tombstone says. Tolon is not a know townland. I have searched for many years and have come to the conclusion that the tombstone etcher either got Tolon or Derbyshire wrong. There is a townland just over the border in Nottinghamshire that is close in spelling and since William's wife, Annie's tombstone says she was born in Nottinghamshire...who knows? I think I need to actually get to England to get it straight. Hopefully, on the next trip to Ireland, I can get over. Last time they were fully involved with foot and mouth disease, so I didn't go.
