Hello! I am looking for my Redgate ancestors. They are traced back to Ireland in the latter 1600's but as a child I remember my mother and great aunt telling me they originally came from England. So far I have not traced them there and can't seem to. It would have been about the mid to late 1600's they left England and went to Ireland. The names in the family are William, Margaret, Catherine, Jane, Andrew, John, George, Ann and others but those are the predominant ones. Does anyone know of anyone else who might be researching this name? Thanks Karen ----- Original Message ----- From: <ENG-DERBYSHIRE-CHESTERFIELD-D-request@rootsweb.com> To: <ENG-DERBYSHIRE-CHESTERFIELD-D@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, October 31, 2003 2:00 PM Subject: ENG-DERBYSHIRE-CHESTERFIELD-D Digest V03 #56
Hi Karen, do you have places in Derbyshire & later dates for your REDGATE ancestors?. I am researching REDGATE in the Smalley/Morley areas from a marriage of Peter REDGATE on 25 FEb 1695/96 to Elizabeth WHILDON in Morley. His daughter Mary REDGATE was baptised on 13 Feb 1725/26 in Smalley, Mary married James MATHER.
