    3. Hello Valerie, Sorry to confuse you, I initiated this one. I copy Jeannie in case, as seems likely, we join up somewhere. You have been a marvel, answering all those nagging doubts in my mind, well most of them. In James the Pilsley farmer-publican's family the second Edmund was given as Edmund in the IGI, but when your list made him Edward I wondered if it was a badly written Emma. But you thought of that of that one. He did not appear in the 1841 census for whatever reason. I have discovered that the Pilsley pub was the Three Horse Shoes. I believe Levi was the youngest son of James the North Wingfield labourer, he was said to be Reuben's brother in the 1851 census. The ancestry.com free BMD site gives his wedding to Martha as June quarter 1860, so I guess the list you sent is in error in saying 1862. He said his father was Roley Clay. It is possible that his mother was widowed and remarried, though I could not find a Roley/Roland Clay in free BMD. It might be Martha's father, she was a widow presumably. Is it a Derbyshire FHS list? Surely you did not copy it off all the images, that would be too much. Thank you for the sighting of Levi in 1861. Because the witnesses to Sarah's wedding were Reuben and the mysterious Sarah, I think that their fathers, the two Jameses, are related. In fact I believe that they are: James Johnson chr, William Johnson & Hannah, Newmarket 28.01.1787 North Wingfield James Johnson chr, John Johnson & Elizabeth, Newmarket 10.08.1788 North Wingfield Their fathers, I think, were sons of William (born Handley 1726) & Hannah. Provisionally I have made the first James the NW labourer, and the second the Pilsley farmer-publican. At the moment I am not sure how I can check that. Their ages are so close. Thank you for the female marriages. Thank your for all you have done. I think it amazing we have taken the Johnsons so far, it is a common name.
