Is there AKS who frequents the Burton on Trent Library who could do a lookup in the records held there from the Union Workhouse Horninglow for me. In particular the Admission & Discharge Registers 1881-1930 which I believe are held at the library. I am trying to establish why my 2x great grandmother Emma Leedham (nee Holden) was at the workhouse in 1895 when she died and hopefully her date of birth. She would have been admited sometime between 1891 (in the 1891 census she was still with her husband Thomas living in Little Liverpool Cottages, Coton in the Elms DBY) and her death 17 Nov 1895 at the Union Workhouse Horninglow. Her death certificate states occupation as wife of Thomas Leedham, agricultural labourer of Coton in the Elms; cause of death heart disorder, dropsy certified by Alfred Hooper (workhouse Medical Officer) and the informant is given as being John Ashwood Master, Union Workhouse Horninglow. Any information will be much appreciated. Emma has been a real mystery woman.
