    3. Bryan My Eliza Rodgers was the daughter of Samuel Rodgers and Mary Wall. She did have a brother, William, who *could be* the father of your Eliza. I'll look up his date of birth later today and let you know if it's possible. Happy New Year, Aileen

    3. Bryan Thanks for the email, but I know the ancestry of my Eliza Rodgers, who came from Hady, Chesterfield. I just wondered where she was in 1891 as she was not with the rest of the family. She married my grandfather in 1896, who was a Derbyshire policeman until he retired in 1922. I don't know where West Handley is in Derbyshire, so have no idea whether there could be a connection to your lot. Best wishes and a Merry Christmas, Aileen PS I tried to connect to your homepage, but it was unavailable, both yesterday and today.

    3. Hello again Jayne Thanks so much for the census images and for your work in looking for Maria. Unfortunately, I don't think any of them fit, so I am forced to conclude that she 'slipped through the net' on Census day, as I did myself in 1971. My landlady didn't declare me as her tenant in the granny flat attached to the house (I was only 29 at the time), and I didn't think it important at the time! I tried to set the record straight last year and wrote to the relevant authorities, but they won't change the entry - so I disappear in 1971 and reappear in 1981 under a different name (married). Hey ho! Anyway I shall carefully archive all the Maria's and look at them with great care to make sure I'm right. By the way, what is a 'soundex search' please? I've never heard of it. Thanks again for being so kind, and I wish you and those you love a Very Happy Christmas and a blessed and peaceful New Year. Aileen PS I don't think the Worksop one is mine, as Maria's mother died in 1875, so she didn't have a stepfather. Thanks for the suggestion anyway though. > > The one in Worksop looks promising doesn't it? I did a check and found that her stepfather was Charles Nixon aged 66 and a Grocer and Licensed Victualler bn Ashover. His wife was Sarah Nixon aged 56 bn Heightington, LIN. They had a daughter Martha A. Nixon aged 29 bn Worksop an imbecile. Then Maria Marshall, step-daughter aged 32, a Grocer's Assistant apparently born in Worksop. They were all residing at 157 Gateford Road. I lived on that road in 1975/76. 2. Aileen Howard
    3. Hello listers I am hoping that some kind person with the 1891 Derbyshire Census or Index could look for MARIA MARSHALL who would be aged around 32 years. She was a dressmaker in Chesterfield in 1881 and in 1901, but I don't know where she lived in 1891. She was still unmarried and had left the family home. I am also looking for ELIZA RODGERS, who was aged around 17 in 1891. She lived at home in Hady in 1881 and had married and moved to Codnor by 1901, so I am hoping to find her in the 1891 Census somewhere in the Chesterfield area as she was not at home with her family. Grateful thanks for any help I receive, Aileen

    1. [Chesterfield] Burton Upon Trent Workhouse Admission & Discharge Registers Lookup Request
    2. Kevin Murphy
    3. As a result of my lookup request at the Burton Library I received information that the records I was interested in were no longer held there and were now at the Lichfield Joint Record Office. So is there AKS who frequents the Lichfield Joint Record Office who could do a lookup in the records held there from the Union Workhouse Horninglow for me. In particular the Admission & Discharge Registers 1881-1930 which I believe are held at the library. I am trying to establish why my 2x great grandmother Emma Leedham (nee Holden) was at the workhouse in 1895 when she died and hopefully her date of birth. She would have been admitted sometime between 1891 (in the 1891 census she was still with her husband Thomas living in Little Liverpool Cottages, Coton in the Elms DBY) and her death 17 Nov 1895 at the Union Workhouse Horninglow. Her death certificate states occupation as wife of Thomas Leedham, agricultural labourer of Coton in the Elms; cause of death heart disorder, dropsy certified by Alfred Hooper (workhouse Medical Officer) and the informant is given as being John Ashwood Master, Union Workhouse Horninglow. Any information will be much appreciated. Emma has been a real mystery woman. 1. [Chesterfield] Tracing the Redgates
    2. Karen Ryan Crawford
    3. I have been trying to trace my ancestors who originally were in England and left England to go to Ireland about the latter 1600's. In Ireland they were living in Aughil and Fermanagh (sp) in Derry. They all seemed to have vanished from Ireland after the latter 1800's. I have found them back to Ireland but still have not been able to trace them to England. I am hoping that maybe something rings a bell with soneone. I had 40 out of 80 emails this morning that was spam. However, these programs automatically send mail to everyone who sends you an email, including mailing lists. Everyone who posts to the list will get one. I find them just as annoying as spam and to me they are the same, unsolicited mail. So, this is a warning to any listers who are thinking about this or other programs similar to the above email. If the list gets one, or if anyone on the list reports to me that they received one after they posted to the list, you will be removed from the list and you will be put on the 'reject' list which means you cannot subscribe to the list automatically, you will need to request subscription through me and assure me you have disabled the spam program.
