I hope someone out there can help me with this one! >From his death certificate I have the following information: Henry Thomas (my paternal g-g-grandfather) died 30th August 1880, at No 12 Pit Cro??field Cleator Moor, [I thought this might have been Crossfield but doesn't look like ss]. "Accidentally killed by falling down pit". He was an Iron Pit something at the time. [My eyes are getting worse!!] Inquests were held 30th August and 1st September with the certificate received from H J Whiteside deputy coroner for the Lordship[?] of Egremont. He left a wife Isabella and children Alfred Forrester Thomas b1874 (g-grandfather), William b1872, Justus b1877, Marrion b 1879 and Isabella b1881. At the time of the 1881 census, the widow and children were living in Cleator. My problem is I do not know where he was born, although I do know from his death certificate that he was 34, which would make it about 1846. Family tradition has the Thomas family originally coming from Cornwall and he could have been the first 'Thomas' to move into Cumberland. If anyone has access to the 1871 census for Cleator/Moor Row area could they please look up this family for me? Also, can anyone tell me where I could get more information about the accident that caused his death? Joyce Sinclair Perth, Western Australia
