A little later, 1694, he, himself, signs as 'Curate'. His burial is recorded in the Register January 24, 1725, aged 82 1723 ANTHONY NICHOLSON. Death recorded December 16th, 1760 1761 CLEMENT NICHOLSON. Clement Nicholson was admitted Reader at 'Ulpha in the parish of Millom' by the Rev. Matthew Postlethwaite, Vicar of Millom ... He was licensed to the Chapelry of Ennerdale, on the nomination of Mrs. Frances Langton, of Whitehaven, widow ... on the 17th of November 1761. He became Curate of Lamplugh, 6th of February 1772 (his birth-day), being nominated by the Rev. Richard Dickenson, Rector of Lamplugh. 1777 CLEMENT MOSCROP was admitted Reader at Ennerdale, 10th of March, 1766. He was made deacon 21st of July same year at Chester. He became Priest 20th of August, 1777. He was presented to Ennerdale on the nomination of Frances Hamilton, Nancy Langton, Elizabeth Watts, and Isabella Spedding. 1785 JAMES PONSONBY. James Ponsonby was ordained Deacon by Beilby Porteus, Bishop of Chester, 18th of April 1784. On the nomination of Mrs. Frances Hamilton, Elizabeth Watts, Isabella Spedding, and Miss Anne Langton, Spinster Patronesses, he was licensed to the Chapelry of Ennerdale after being ordained Priest 17th of July, 1785. 1820 JOSEPH GILBANKS. The death of John Campbell Shaw is recorded April 28th, 1846. 1848 WILLIAM MALONE JUKES. Mr. Jukes had been at Cleator perviously (1844) and married one of the Robertsons of Mill House there. COOPER PARISH CLERKS Only one or two names of the old Clerks have been recovered. Joseph Fisher, innkeeper of 'The Bridge' was clerk in 1765. Reference has already been made to William Lamb.
