Hi List, My G.G.Grandmother was Mary Ann TURNER and I have only recently found her birthplace as Wigton, Cumbs. On the IGI I found her Bapt. 16 Feb 1832, parents Robert TURNER and Elizabeth RICHARDSON. I sent for a copy of the actual church entry, and Robert TURNER was a Hatter. I have little more information about these Turner's. My Carlisle connection is my G.G.Grandparents James SCOTT Born about 1827 in Kirkoswald and Jane LITTLE Bapt. 22 May 1825 in Carlisle. They were married in St Mary's, Carlisle 26 Dec 1846. James father was a Well Sinker, deceased and Jane's father was Thomas LITTLE, Shoemaker. Their address was given as Bridge St. On the 1851 census James and Jane are living at 33 Water St. He is 24 and Jane is 27, they did not have any children with them. They later moved to Bolton, Lancs. where they had a daughter, Jane born about 1853 and later had my G.Grandmother Elizabeth in 1855 in Manchester. On some Carlisle Parish Records I found a James SCOTT, Wellsinker who had a daughter called Ruth in 1829. The mother was a Jane ???This could be James Jnr. sister. Also on the PR's I found Thomas LITTLE. Shoemaker, and Jane ??? of Caldew Gate, who had a Jane LITTLE (mine) in 1825 and also a John Pearson LITTLE in 1828 (Not sure about this one). I would love to hear from anyone who can help me in any way to progress. Mal Malcolm & Gladys Woods Email: salford6@starwon.com.au
