Faugh is about six miles east of Carlisle. It is in Hayton parish and I imagine the parish records there would be the best place to start looking for Mary Ackle. I am researching the Nicholson's, Lowes/Lows, and Ackles families starting around the time William Nicholson married Mary Ann Lowes and emigrated to the US (early to mid 1860's). The Nicholson's and Lowes are from St. Cuthbert's Parish and I am searching the church records for the period 1752 to 1862. I also have ordered the Carlisle/ St. Cuthbert censuses for 1851 and 1871. All the records are from the LDS microfilm files. Mary Ann Lowes parents were Thomas Lowes and Mary Ackle. Mary Ackle was from Faugh which I know is close to St. Cuthbert's. Does anyone have any idea what church Mary would have belonged to if she was from Faugh? Also, does anyone know of any other church or civil records which might help me ? And lastly, is anyone aware of any family genealogies that may relate to my families of interest? Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone may be able to provide. Best of luck in your research.
