Hi Barbara, Greetings to a possible distant cousin. I know very little about Sarah NICHOL (or NICKOL or NICKOLS) according to which child on the IGI you look up. I haven't gone back to parish records to confirm these details yet for this generation (I hope to in the future), but the existence of Robert Nichol BENSON later would seem to confirm the name. They were married at Saint Mary (IGI) and the children were also christened at Saint Mary. I presume that is just south of the river from Stanwix judging from the birth addresses of the next generation so it seems quite likely we have the same Sarah. However marriages were more commonly held in the bride's church, I believe. I will let you know if, and when, I find more info. Who were Sarah's parents? I am tracing the Nichol family from Carlisle. My family is a John Nichol born 1810 in Carlisle.. His father was a Robert Nichol and I believe his grandfather was a Robert Nichol. There was a Sarah Nichol born 1773 and christened in Stanwix parish. My John Nichol came to Canada in 1832 and married here in Canada. Don' t know if we can connect these families or not.
