    1. [CUL-CAR] Laurence BENSON of Carlisle, Cumberland, England
    2. Christine Benson
    3. I am new to this list. I have traced my BENSON ancestry back to Lawrence Benson who married Sarah Nichol in 1803 at Saint Mary, Carlisle. They had 4 known children:- John b. abt.1804 William b. abt.1806 Robert b. abt.1809 Lawrence b. abt.1811 Robert married Mary Anne Little b. 1815, in 1844.at Kirk Andrews Upon Esk, Cumberland. They had 4 known children:- John Little b. 1845 Lawrence b. 1846 Robert Nichol b. 1847 Richard (Little) b. 1852 (He added "Little" in his later life) The family were born in Carlisle. The whole family moved south, individually or together, to the Manchester environs where the next generation married. John Little m. Elizabeth Wood and had William, Florence and Lawrence. Robert Nichol m. Elizabeth Lane Mounsden and had Bertram Leopold and Alphonso Lionel. Richard (Little) m. 1 Annie ? from IOM 2 Elizabeth Hill and had Alecia Annie (aka Elsie) , Richard Vernon (my grandfather) and Norah. Does anyone have any knowledge of this family? Are there any descendants? I have found them on the 1881 census but would SKS be good enough to look them up on previous censuses particularly in Carlisle and environs. I know they were in Carlisle in 1852 and then lose them until they appear in the Manchester region in the 1870's Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA Christine
