    1. [CUL-CAR] re-posting interests
    2. Sue Harding
    3. Hi, all! I'm just returning to my family searches in this area, so I thought I'd re-post my interests (just in case there's someone new who has similar!) BEATTIE - I'm related to the family who traded in Warwick Road, Calrlisle, as stonemasons (although the business has now passed out of the family). Joe Beattie was my maternal grandfather. He worked for his brother. David Johnstone Beattie, who owned the business. Anyone searching these Beattie's from Langholm/Hawick as well? ROUTLEDGE - Interested in William, who, according to 1881 and 1901 census was born in 1827/ 8 in Hayton (I think near Brampton). I've found his resting place in the cemetary which also marks his wife Mary (I think, Mary Annie BELL). He was in the Royal Artillery circa,1860's, and one of his children was born in Bermuda whilst he was posted there. He worked as a railway signalman after his retirement from the army. I want to confirm Mary's surname and where/when married. MEYERS - Interested in Edward, born circa 1840. His MI states he was a First Class Petty officer RN. He retired and married William Routledge's eldest daughter, Mary Jane, and they ran shops (newsagents) in London Road, Botchergate. If anyone recognises these people from their own research, please get in contact!
