I 'm interested in a John GILL of Ashtree in Hayton-upon-Brampton. I have traced my line back to John KNIGHT of Ashtree - born about 1665 in Hayton. There are entries for John KNIGHT of Ashtree through 1731 - then nothing. So I was surprised when, looking through the transcripts, an entry for 'John GILL of Ashtree' caught my eye. Below are listed several entries for John GILL - taken from the Bishop Transcripts of Hayton.
