    1. [CUL-CAR] Help needed
    2. Hello Listers, I have just received the marriage certificate of my grt grt grandparents. Francis O'Neile and Margaret (Marguret) Johnston. They were married 28 Jun 1868 in Carlisle. He was living at Irvings Place (Rotchergate?) Carlisle and she was on Lime Street. Francis' father was William O'Neile (deceased) and had worked as a 'silk hatter' (?) Margaret's father was James Johnston and a Blacksmith. Francis was 26 at the time of marriage, so I est. a birth of about 1842 (b. Carlisle) and Margaret was 20, so a birth of abt. 1848. (b. Scotland) Can sks see if they can locate these families on census prior to marriage with thier parents? I would really appreciate any help. I have gone through this name as O'Neile, O'Neill & Neill. Isn't O'Neile a strange spelling? Oh yea...one of the witnesses was Ellen O'Neill....maybe no relation ???? Thanks in advance Jan

    3. Hello Jan, There is a possible Francis living in Carlisle in 1851.... Enumeration dist 9b, Folio 491 page 32 Gaol Brow, Jolly Hatters Margaret O'NEILL, head, widow, 33, Cotton Winder, born Ireland John O'NEILL, son, 12, born Ireland Francis O'NEILL, son, 8, born Cockermouth, Ellen O'NEILL, dau, 6, born Carlisle. The family probaly moved from Cockermouth to Carlise in between the births of Francis and Ellen so Francis may well have thought that he was born in Carlisle. There is a second O'NEILL entry listed at the same place.
