    3. I agree it would be good to know where others on the list are searching FROM, it might be that we can useful to those kind souls who are able to access Carlisle information direct. So saying, I live in Rugby, Warwickshire, UK and as I work at the local library I have access to family history archives and census material for Rugby and it's surrounding environs. I'd be happy to do look-ups etc., for anyone with interests in this area - (a lot of people were resettled here from Cumberland after WW2, I remember my parents taking me to the Cumberland Society Christmas parties as a child!) Sue Harding (searching BEATTIE, ROUTLEDGE, MEYERS, in Carlisle; CARSON, STEVENSON in Stirlingshire, Scotland; HARDING, COOKE, BROWN in Sussex and London) --------------------------------- It's Samaritans' Week. 3. If the answer isn't too long and complicated, would someone explain why Cumbrians were resettled after WW2? When I think of resettlement, I think of from war damaged areas but I don't think that could be the reason here. regards, Laura in New York -----Original Message----- From: Sue Harding [mailto:suesfolks@yahoo.co.uk] Sent: Tuesday, May 20, 2003 4:17 PM To: ENG-CUL-CARLISLE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [CUL-CAR] re: exchange of info I agree it would be good to know where others on the list are searching FROM, it might be that we can useful to those kind souls who are able to access Carlisle information direct.
