While doing some research recently I came upon a document which seems to be a record of an arbitration on a land dispute in 1748. The parties involved are SAMUEL WILSON of GREAT ORTON, JAMES WARD and JOSEPH WARD both of ORTON RIGG. The arbitration panel were JOSHUA WILSON of WIGTON, JAMES SROT(Scot?) of THURSBY, JOHN NORMAN of BOW and good old Jonathan Ostell.
