Dear Helen, I paid someone to look for me at STAMFORD/ STANFORD Baptisms, Burials & Marriages for Ely, although I was mainly looking for prior to 1810. I've just looked through the results they sent me, and although there were few marriages, I do have the following baptisms recorded children of for Thomas & Eda or Edith. You may have them all anyway, but in case there are any that you don't have - Elizabeth 1796 James 1797 Thomas 1799 Phoebe 1801 Mary 1803 Frances (f) 1804 Edith 1807 Ruth & Jeremiah b 1808 (Jeremiah d 1808) Jeremiah 1811 If anyone else is researching STANFORD or STAMFORD in or near Ely I would be very interested. At the top of my tree (so far) is Edward STAMFORD marrying Mary WIETT (or WYATT) in 1721 at St Mary's, Ely. (Is anyone else interested in the WYATT family of Ely?) One of their sons was Edward who married the widow Elizabeth ROGERS at Holy Trinity, Ely, in 1781 (It might be his 3rd marriage). One of his sons was Wyatt STANFORD (or STAMFORD) who married Mary GOTOBED in 1804 at Holy Trinity, Ely. My other main family of interest in Ely is the MILLS family. Thomas MILLS was born c1787 in Denver, Norfolk but married Sarah SCOTT c1805 at Ely. They had children George, Robert, Henry (& Mary b & d 1815). Later in 1815 Thomas deserted the family & lived for a while at Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. Sarah & the children eventually moved to London. Her son Henry eventually followed his daughter to Australia. If anyone has any information on any of these families I would be most grateful. Kerry Farmer Sydney, Australia >> I am researching the Cambridgeshire surnames of CRISP (Soham), and STANFORD and DAY from Ely area. There are a couple of marriage records that I would love to find: Jeremiah Stanford married Elizabeth Day c 1835 Thomas Stanford married Eda or Edith c 1800 Both events probably occurred at Ely, possibly Holy Trinity. Any assistance would be appreciated. <<
