    3. Thanks again to Paula for this...... 1832 REVERLEY Mary A 19m Residence: Fair Street Burial: Cambridge, Holy Trinity We all collect so many of these. In September I had the good fortune to find a folder at the Kendal Record Office, filled with Reveley correspondence from 1756 to 1850. Included were these three letters, making little Mary and her mother Mary very real people to me. I am saddened by their death. Sarah Reveley in Texas ============ Crosby May 26th 1836 Dear Brother, We received the lemons last week and have sent you the Boscobel Tracts ~ We had last week a letter from Frank acknowledging the receipt of the box with many thanks for the contents he would have written sooner but his wife had been so very ill that her death was expected but she is now so far recovered as to sit up and attend partly to the house. The children were all well they were much pleased with the shillings, he says George is very fond of drawing and John great excells his brother in Arithmetic having been three times through the Book of them and is now doing compound interest, he intends him to write to you shortly. My sister and I were drinking tea with Mr. and Mrs. Sen--l yesterday they were both looking well and were very pleasant. They will have a sale of furniture on Thursday next as we are busy getting coverslips for mine I have not time to write more but remain Your very affectionate Sister Elizabeth Reveley ============= Cambridge September 12th 1836 Dear Brother, It becomes my painful duty to communicate to you the death of poor Mrs. Reveley which took place this evening at ten minutes to eight after the most lingering and painful affliction which she has borne with wonderful patience and Christian fortitude - in her I have lost a most industrious virtuous and affectionate wife and the poor children the best of mothers. I can only add that you must send me sufficient by return to enable me to bury her with that degree of decency and respect her merits deserve. In haste, Yours affectionately, F. Reveley ================================== Jan 24, 1837 My Dear Sister, You will have begun to be uneasy about the box ~ it was safely delivered and for its contents I am thankful ~ the poor children enjoyed the cake but to my taste it appeared hardly done. I am sorry to say I myself have been very unwell so much so as to be obliged to apply for medical advice. I am however thank God something better although terribly harassed in mind. It has been a long dreary and extremely ........... (portion cut out) ........of her sight ~ agreeably to your request I transmit to you the dates of their respective births ~ Thomas son of F & M Reveley born March 23 1822, died October 21st. George Francis born at No 85 Long Acre Dec 26 1824. John born at Ditto Dec 2 1826. Ruth a twin born at the Perse Grade School Cambridge December 24th 1828. William born Dec 25th died the same day 1820. Mary Ann born Sept 6 1830 died March 23 1832. Elizabeth born Nov 12 Fair Street Cambridge 1832. Mary mother of the above children died Sept 12 1836 aged 32 years. (Frank Reveley)
