    3. Sarah http://www.historicaldirectories.org/hd/d.asp has a number of directories for Cambridge. On page 103 of the 1830-1831 Pigot's Directory for Cambridgeshire under 'Academies, seminaries and public schools' is the entry for the Free Grammar School in Free School Lane with James BAILEY MA headmaster and Francis REVELEY BA undermaster. On page 18 of the Cambridgeshire section of the 1839 Robson's Commercial Directory of Beds, Bucks, etc under 'Public Charities & Schools' is the entry for Perse's Free Grammar School with Peter MASON as headmaster and Geo. BARBER as usher. A quick check of the school's prosectus shows that Perse's Free Grammar School was to be found in Free School Lane in until 1890 or so - so these 2 places are one and the same which fits in with Estelle's idea!!!
