I have received the death certificate of Samuel LINDSAY of Kingston dated 1860.A Lydia RUTTER was the informant & 'present at death'.This may indicate wife Mary ( formerly)GINN had died by then but not necessarily). What I don't know is who is Lydia RUTTER? A Mrs or a Miss? She is on the Free BMD -she died 1874 Caxton aged 76? Is she related to the LINDSAYs? Has anybody got her in their tree? Hi Andrea According to the CFHS 1851 Census Cambs and Isle of Ely CD In 1851, 9 years earlier, Lydia RUTTER is living in Kingston with her family Parish Kingston HO 107/1758 402A Cottage House Thomas RUTTER H M 56 Ag Lab CAM Kingston Lydia RUTTER Wf M 53 CAM Needsworth Thomas RUTTER S S 9 Ag Lab CAM Kingston Martha RUTTER D S 7 Schol CAM Kingston NB most of the addresses in Kingston are given as Cottage House so I'd guess it was a description of the dwelling rather than name of the house. Samuel and his family are also in Kingston and Mary is still alive then - age 45. Could she be Deaths Sep 1878 ------------------------------------- Lindsay Mary 74 Caxton 3b 297 Hope this helps, Sarah Spink
Hi all I have just rejoined the list after a long break from family history having been concentrating on researching local history near to where I live. I have had a lot of trouble tying to trace the marriage of a George JOHNSON known to be from Haddenham and an Elizabeth BURTON possibly also from Haddenham. I have searched www.1837online.com, CAMDEX, FreeBMD etc and would like to see if there was a suitable Elizabeth in Haddenham in 1861 and who her family was. Their son was born in December 1873 which gave the mother's name as Elizabeth JOHNSON formerly BURTON, suggesting that they had married. Please could SKS with access to the Haddenham 1861 census fiche have a quick Check to see if there is an Elizabeth BURTON or similar (Eliza/Betsy etc) living in Haddenham parish at that time. I know there is an Eliza BURTON age 2 living Hillrow on the 1851 census but I don't know if she survived. Also if you could find George in 1861 as well that would be great. In 1851 he was 1 month old and living Johnson's House, Hillrow, Delph Drove, Haddenham. I have his details for 1871 and 1881. Elizabeth has not been found in 1871 yet despite checking on Ancestry.Com. By 1881 she had died. Many thanks, Sarah Spink Berkshire
