Hi Ruth - thanks so much for your help. I take it that the Catherine in the workhouse was 22 in 1861 which would be about 10 years out, however I know that errors do happen. On the other hand if she was 22 in 1851 that is likely the right one. I know that her mother and stepfather died in the late 1840's so she might well have ended up in the workhouse. I have the records for her brother but nothing that gives his fathers name - even his marriage and military records do not have that information so I am hoping that if I can pin down some information on Kitty that it might help.
