I am trying to confirm previous assumptions about my ggGrandfather Harry ROBINSON. He married in Barton in 1882. On his marriage certificate his father is shown as George ROBINSON, a Tailor. On the 1881 census index the only Harry that fits is at 13 Nine Pin Court, with widowed mother Frances and elder brother Arthur. All 3 born in Cambridge. I have the birth certificate of a Harry, born 26th July 1859 at the Black Moor Head Yard, Bridge Street Cambridge, son of George ROBINSON, a Cellarman, and Frances (nee Taylor). This seems to be the Harry of the 1881 census, and I assume the one I am looking for. I found George and Frances in the 1841 and 1851 census indexes on the CFHS website as follows. 1841 ROBINSON Charles 30 Cambridge St Giles HO107/86/9 6B ROBINSON Sarah 25 Cambridge St Giles HO107/86/9 6B ROBINSON Ellen 8 Cambridge St Giles HO107/86/9 6B ROBINSON Charles 7 Cambridge St Giles HO107/86/9 6B ROBINSON Mary Ann 5 Cambridge St Giles HO107/86/9 6B ROBINSON Julia 8m Cambridge St Giles HO107/86/9 6B ROBINSON George 25 Cambridge St Giles HO107/86/9 6B ROBINSON Frances [f] 20 Cambridge St Giles HO107/86/9 6B 1851 ROBINSON George 37 Cambridge St Giles HO107/1760 887B ROBINSON Frances 34 Cambridge St Giles HO107/1760 887B ROBINSON Frederick 9 Cambridge St Giles HO107/1760 887B ROBINSON Arthur 7 Cambridge St Giles HO107/1760 887B ROBINSON George 4 Cambridge St Giles HO107/1760 887B ROBINSON Frances S 2 Cambridge St Giles HO107/1760 887B ROBINSON Elizabeth 4m Cambridge St Giles HO107/1760 887B The only marriage of a George ROBINSON and Frances TAYLOR around the right time was in Biggleswade, which seems unlikely although remotely possible. Does anyone have access to the 1841 or 1851 census books who could look up these entries for me and let me know George's occupation, where comes from, and what relation (if any) George and Frances are to the Charles and Sarah who appear on the same page in 1841. This would help me identify whether I have the right families here. Thanks Andy King
Hi Andy On the 1841 census Charles and George are living in different households. However the 1851 census shows they were both born in Biggleswade so an assumption could be made that they are brothers.
