    3. Hi Chris, I have actually contacted the Northamptonshire Record Office where I believe the inquest might be held, and they have replied that it will take a couple of weeks to process, and did't say that their records didn't go back that far, so I have my fingers crossed! I have yet to investigate the old newspapers route. Thanks for the help, Anne ----- Original Message ----- From: "Chris Thomas" <ctlgw@yahoo.co.uk> To: <ENG-CAMBRIDGESHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, May 01, 2004 1:37 AM Subject: Re: [ENG-CAMB] Coroners Report > Hi, > I think you'll find it is unlikely that the Coroners' Offices hold records of old inquests (certainly going back to 1910). However, you might be lucky and find that an account of the inquest appeared in a local newspaper. Best place to make enquiries is the local County Records Office(s!). > Chris Thomas > > Anne or Gordon Major <gamajor@ozemail.com.au> wrote: > Hi Listers, > My first time in Cambridgeshire - amazing where family history unexpectedly takes one! > > I have just received the death certificate for my g.grandfather, which states that he died as the result of breaking his neck in a fall down stairs. The certificate was received from the Coroner for the Hundred of Nossaburgh on 15th April 1910 which is when the Inquest was held. The certificate was issued in the Registration District of Peterborough and the Sub-district of Peterborough in the Counties of Hunts & Peterborough. The last bit puzzles me as I know that Peterborough isn't, and wasn't, a County?? I am wondering how I go about getting a copy of the Inquest report, and wondered if SKS can give me some advice please? > > Any help appreciated, > > Regards, > > Anne Major - Melbourne, Australia > > > ==== ENG-CAMBRIDGESHIRE Mailing List ==== > . > > > --------------------------------- > Yahoo!
