I suspect the "Thwisday Island, Australia" birth place is really Thursday Island... Strange place for them at that time - not a huge centre of population even now! Up north of the tip of Queensland - well on the way to New Guinea. Were you trying http://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/sub/register/cambsindex.htm ? This gives the following marriage entries 1887 William Plumb to Ellis, Cambridge Registration District 331/CE071/01/267/1 1887 and Alice Ellis to Plumb, Cambridge Registration District 331/CE071/01/267/1 I can't immediately find the couple in the 1891 census, but a search in the free index to the 1901 census at www.census.pro.gov.uk suggests the following family - the reference to a daughter born in Australia may well explain their absence in 1891: Balsham, Cambridge William Plumb, aged 34, Malster, born Balsham Cambs Alice Plumb, aged 31, born Arrington Cambs Lucy Plumb, aged 7, born Thwisday Island, Australia Francis Plumb, aged 5, born Balsham Cambs May Plumb, aged 2, born Balsham Cambs William Plumb, aged 10 months, born Flemdyke Cambs You would need to look at the original census page to confirm relationships. The 1901 census index also has one entry for an Albert Cooper aged between 6 and 8 and born in Cambridgeshire - a 6 year old Albert in Littleport. Hope this helps Ruth -----Original Message----- From: NOREEN KENNEDY [mailto:waverneyhopper@btinternet.com] Sent: 26 May 2004 14:39 To: ENG-CAMBRIDGESHIRE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [ENG-CAMB] Registrars link to bmd search Cambridge This link appears not to be working today.
