Dear Listers, My posting yesterday should have contained proper links - sorry! Here we go again: The annual Harvest Service at the Swaffham Fen Wesleyan Methodist Chapel (now usually called 'The Little Chapel in the Fen') is on Sunday October 3rd at 3 p.m. and I invite anyone who has memories of or family connections with this little Victorian gem to come along. The service will include the following hymns, all from Ira D. Sankey's 'Sacred Songs & Solos': 'Shall we gather at the river?'; 'We plough the fields and scatter'; 'Come, ye thankful people, come'; 'Count your blessings'; and 'Bringing in the sheaves'. There will also be a talk on 'Our Chapel and its People in the Old Days'. There is some information on the Chapel at: http://www.roll-of-honour.com/Cambridgeshire/SwaffhamFenMethodist.html And the Chapel itself (ringed in a red circle) can be located at: http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?X=550000&Y=270000&width=500&height=300& client=public&gride=553373&gridn=268282&keepicon=true&coordsys=gb&addr1=& addr2=&addr3=&pc=CB75YJ&advanced=&scale=200000&right.x=29&right.y=5 In order that this posting shall not be regarded as too 'off-topic', I mention below the names of the Chapel's trustees as listed in 1884.
