Hi All: Checking again in the book SCOTTISH HAZARD The Flemish Nobility and their impact on Scotland by Beryl Platts, I came across this paragraph: "Of the churches built by Flemings in the river valleys of Great Ouse, Nene and Welland, the overwhelming number, those started in the years after 1066, are dedicated to St. Mary the Virgin. This was presumably to honour the famous mother church of the Boulonnais, the cathedral of Our Lady of Boulogne, founded to commemorate that image of the Madonna and Child which had miraculously sailed into the harbour on a ship without a pilot or crew, in the year 636. The statue and its shrine thereafter became one of the greatest points of pilgrimmage in Europe." I wonder if Walloons and Huguenots worshipped in those churches after they left the French chapels.
