    1. Sorry, another unusual Christian name!
    2. Back to Woodditton: having solved Ampillas (Ann Phillis) I am now looking at Maaleh Nunn, twin of Tamar, I presume. I know where Tamar comes from but Maaleh? Is it a male or female name and where does it come from? I have searched the Internet and come up with a load of place names. The name has come from LDS IGI with source information. Many thanks in advance, Heatha

    3. Dear Heatha, if transcribed correctly, then Hebrew locative Maaleh = 'ascent', but could it have been meant for Mahalah? One of Cain's wives, her name was used in England in the 18th century. 3. Dear Heatha, Offhand that looks like Mahala, usually feminine, and coming back into fashion - there was a little Mahala in my younger son's nursery class. There is the death of a Mahala Nunn, aged 2, in Wood Ditton in 1825, and her burial on the NBI: 1825 Mahalah NUNN 2 Cambs Wood Ditton, St Mary Estelle I am now looking at >Maaleh Nunn, twin of Tamar, I presume.
