Just a thought Brian, but have you considered alternate spellings. I have some MUNNS from Cambridgeshire who went to New York and from there to Utah in around 1860 -----Original Message----- From: B&D [mailto:band.mereside@tiscali.co.uk] Sent: 28 July 2004 09:20 To: ENG-CAMBRIDGESHIRE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Minns New York! Hello listers near and far I am in the process of trying to track down the Minns families tracing their ancestry back to Edward Minns and Susannah Whybrow who married in 1800 in Chesterton. I have come across an entry in the 1881 Census , Occupation Road Chesterton, of William and Caroline Brown and his stepchildren Louis E Minns, Caroline Minns William Minns and Lily May Minns. Looking back on the Camdex for marriages I found a marriage in 1880 for Caroline (Minns, Carter) to William Brown, this would certainly appear to be them. Looking back further on the index there is a marriage for James Minns to Caroline Whiteman in 1867 I am assuming that this too is the Caroline from the 1881 Census. I know I am on dangerous ground but the children were born between 1870 and 1876 which would fit in with both of these marriages. There are many children christened James in the Minns family and I can account for most of their marriages but I can't fit this one in. It is a mystery and I can only assume that their were many second marriages and deaths that I have not found. If anyone has access to the Chesterton parish records for 1867 could they take pity on me and look for further details please. Heartfelt thanks if anyone is able to do this.
