Hi I have posted to this list before with great success. So many kind people have provided me with information. So here I go again asking for help. I have reached a dead end on my Nelson family and am looking for any more information anyone can provide. After my great great Grandfather left Cambridgeshire I have a fairly good handle on him but it is his roots that are proving to be a challenge. What I know: · John Nelson was born 1828 in Croydon cum Clopton · His mother was Biddy Nelson · John had a sister, Kitty, who was born about 1832 · John’s father died sometime between 1831 and 1837 · According to the Speculum Gregis, Biddy Nelson was born in Ireland · According to the 1841 census, Biddy and daughter Kitty were both born in Ireland · Biddy (Bridget Nelson) remarried in 1838 to James Hagger · Her marriage certificate states that her father was Edward Brown · John Nelson joined the 43rd Light Infantry and attested in Newsells What I am trying to discover: · John’s fathers name? · What became of Kitty Nelson? · What became of Biddy Hagger ? · Why did John attest in Newsells?
