Yes and individual names would almost certainly clog up the list even more. Though it might be a good idea to put names in the subject line in CAPITALS./ There is absolutley NO NEED to put huge lists on these roll calls. All you need are the main lines 4 @most surely. Places and dates that correspond to those dates, not every individual you have in your tree. Honor PS are you sure you meant this to go the this list rather than the Suffolk list??? I have not seen any mention or had any 'roll call' mailings from Cambs list. ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Rouse" <> To: <ENG-CAMBRIDGESHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, July 16, 2004 6:35 PM Subject: [ENG-CAMB] ROLL CALL is an unhelpful heading > It tells people nothing about the families you are researching. > > It would be much more useful to put the family name (in capitals) the > place and the date in the heading, with a separate post for each name. > This makes it much easier for people searching the archives, and those > who read messages in the digest form. > > Incidentally, having just been searching the archives, putting a list of > all the names you are researching at the end of all your messages means > that anyone researching any one of your names will keep coming across > your messages, and may well decided to ignore all of them - you could > miss that lucky break! > > John > -- > John Rouse > > > ==== ENG-CAMBRIDGESHIRE Mailing List ==== > . >
